2023 CALENDAR OF EVENTS



ANNUAL MEETING – January 19

2022 in review, 2022 kick-off!  A chance to welcome new board members, appreciate volunteers, and “above  and beyond” members. Sea Cadets and supported groups are in attendance to receive recognition for achievements in their leadership programs.


COMBINED MILITARY APPRECIATION BAND CONCERT – May 20

Navy League hosts this joint service event held in conjunction with National Military Appreciation Month, which is open to the public. Flag, general officers, community leaders, and service families attend this event. Navy League Sea Cadets attend the event and function as greeters, ushers, and escorts. A very patriotic event!


PACIFIC FLEET SAILOR OF THE YEAR – June 5 – 9

An event co-hosted with the U.S. Pacific Fleet command to recognize outstanding young sailors who are the absolute finest in the U.S. Pacific Fleet and to recognize outstanding young sailors who have demonstrated exemplary military leadership and personal dedication over the past year.


MILITARY STAYCATION GIVEAWAYS – July 4

Two-day staycation vacations are given away to over 20 active duty military families at the July 4 Independence Day Celebration and concert at Ward Field at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam.


INDO-PACIFIC MARITIME SECURITY EXCHANGE (IMSE) – August 3 - 4

IMSE is an international maritime security conference featuring senior leaders from the region. Its enduring theme is Building Partnerships for Security, Stability, and Propserity. IMSE 2023 will focus on unlawful and criminal activity on the high seas, building capacity for the humanitarian assistance and disaster releif mission, and engagement with Pacific Island nations. OMBUDSMAN APPRECIATION DINNER – September 14

A Navy Ombudsman’s role is to “serve as an information link between the command leadership and command families,” and Ombudsmen are trained to disseminate information and provide resource referrals. This dinner celebrates this role and shows appreciation for this key volunteer position.


AMERICAN PATRIOT AWARD DINNER – September 16

Each year two individuals are named as “American Patriots” and honored by Honolulu Council members and our community. Selection is  based on service to the nation and service to our Hawaii community. This is the Honolulu Council’s marquee  event annually. Sea Cadets and High School JROTC Cadets are always present and deliver the Colors as well as act as escorts and engage with guests.


PEARL HARBOR NAVY SHIPYARD GRADUATION – Date TBD

This event marks the matriculation of Pearl Harbor Navy Shipyard apprentices. The council celebrates the apprentice’ accomplishments and present awards and checks to recognize and honor top graduates.


MILITARY SPOUSE APPRECIATION – October 14

Annually a Military Spouse is identified by each branch of the service: the United States Air Force, United States  Army, United States Coast Guard, United States Marine Corps, United States Navy, Hawaii Air National Guard, Hawaii Army National Guard, and United States Pacific Command.

Award recipients are hosted by at City Hall and receive a Letter of Recognition from the Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu. They are also honored at the 50-yard line, prior to kick-off, at the University of Hawaii Military  Appreciation football game, and recognized by dignitaries and presented with a check


SEA SERVICE AWARDS – November 2

This annual luncheon recognizes outstanding service members of the year from the Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, as well as employees of the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and the Maritime Industry.


TOYS FOR TOTS GOLF TOURNAMENT – December 1

A Toy Harvest to help the Toys for Tots program reach its goal of delivering a new toy at Christmas to a less fortunate keiki, aiding them in becoming responsible, productive, and patriotic citizens. Honolulu Navy League is one of the largest contributors of toys every year!
